Monday, started with mist low over the ground then as it cleared a Male HH flow low over the bottom field. Mixed in with the Green, Gold and Chaffinch there was a pair of Yellow Hammer feeding on the seeds. A Jackdaw flow over followed later by a Rook. Both quite rare here. Later in the day the WT was sitting next to the nest site.

Tuesday, out on tour, before going out sitting in the hide I watched 3 whoopers heading north. During the trip saw in total 8 GE, WT Eagles at 3 location with one sat on her nest, 2 Peregrines chasing off Ravens along the cliffs. Sparrowhawk taking a Chaffinch. Kestrel and HH along with a small raft of Razorbills close to Loch Beg. Slav Grebe in summer plumage and male Reed Bunting and several Wheatears. All seen in nice weather.

Midweek, again lovely day started with 19 Whoopers making a get away, whitetailed Bumble bee’s and flag Iris making an appearance.

Thursday , Yellow Hammers still about taking my birdseed with all the Rock Doves sat watching as I scattered the seed on the grass, looked like a scene from “Paddington”. Later on watched as the Sparrow Hawk took one of the Doves which was by now to fat to fly.

Friday late afternoon sat watching a GE hunt over hill tops then saw female WT come off the nest for a stretch and clean then watched as a Swallow flow passed. 1 day later than last year.

Saturday, weather V poor snow on hill tops with plenty of wintery showers,{ Swallow heading back to Africa}.

Sunday, out with the people staying on my short break down to Carsaig, lovely views of WT and GE, 2 Otters playing and a large herd of Wild Goats sitting in the sunshine. Later watched as FHH was bringing nesting material in to nest site, then as another FHH arrived she flow off to chase her away, the Male arrived with food for her only to find that she had gone after waiting a few moments and no sign of his dinner date, it was a” take away vole” for one. Arrived home to find that the 3 stags were still at the bottom of the garden but the biggest stag was without his antlers, now I have to look out for where they have fallen off. Next week must try and locate the Cuckoo.
