Monday; out on tour with a group of people, the sweetie tins was getting passed around a lot to keep spirits high, I spotted what I taught was a Common Scoter out in the middle of Loch na Keal and did not bother to have a proper look through the scope which was a mistake as it was possible a Surf Scoter as one has been seen about over this period. Also saw Porpoise in close along with Otter and both Eagles.
Tuesday; again out with a full group of people and managed to see SEO and HH displaying at Loc S plenty of Artic and Comm Terns fishing. Dipper on his usual rock Sedge warbler and WTE feeding young.
Wednesday; as it was a day off I got up early, as I sat looking out through the kitchen window two Rabbits chased each other around my pond. The three stags sat on the lawn as the sun started to beat down another glorious day was about to erupt on Mull. I quietly pushed my landrover down the path as not to waken my wife who was dreaming about all the jobs I was going to get done that day.
8 ock saw me watching a Whinchat eat a caterpillar which was as large as it was, the SEO chased a Hoodie away then the HH was seen doing it’s display flight. I drove down towards Grasspoint stopping to watch a Comm Sand feeding in the burn then spent 20 mins watching the Osprey sitting on a fence post. On my return I stopped to speak with a large group of people and their guide. They had stopped to view the common Sand “oh” I said “ I thaught you were looking at the Osprey” “Osprey”!! he said. I left them looking frantically towards the horizon. Arriving home after midday to start my “jobs”, I finished putting the artificial grass down on the decking outside my hide. As I sat there contemplating what the Stags would make of this “new grass”. The Cuckoo was calling as the Skylark ascended. The WTE sat in the tree next to his nest site as in the distance a SEO chased off a Buzzard. Then on the warm evening breeze my wife’s voice, clear as the evening air” are you still sitting out there, you've jobs to finish.
Thursday; Another nice day out with one of my 1/2 day tour spotted Eagles with WTE feeding 2 young in the nest at Loc K and Otter in the bay with HH and again SEO and Spotted Flycatcher.
Friday; another day off which was all rather strange after my wife had gone to work I went to go out and see what was “happening” and I had lost the keys to both my Landrover and minibus. No problem I would head out on my bike and would you believe it both tyres were flat and my pump was missing !!. After a cup of coffee and feeling low as I must be” losing it” I got on with some jobs. Then shortly after my wife returned, I came across my keys , right there in the place I normally leave them, as I said all rather Strange.
Saturday and Sunday; I was out on a private tour with Clayton and Jean a lovely couple from USA. Sunday over on Iona again managed to see the Corn Crake, it’s getting harder as the Flag Iris and vegetation is getting taller.
Ps; who ever is in control of the Jet Stream, it would be very nice if you were to sent it further north please.
