Tuesday; weather worse so head north looking to add to our groups tally of sightings and managed to add Little Grebe, House Martin and Grey Wagtail along with 3 Otters.
Wednesday; ” Sunshine” out on tour, Eagles galore spotted Kestrel in GE nest at Loc C BT Diver , both Peregrines hunting along the cliffs and Sand Martins back at their nest site.
Sat at home with a cup of Coffee when Merlin flow past and sat on bottom fence post.
Thursday; “ bus mans holiday” out by myself as it was again nice went to see the GE at Loc S, good views then watched a sub A WTE over Loch bothering the ducks. Back at home noticed that the “ Hoodies “ were sat on the nest in the tree. Friday; out on pm tour, spotted 2 Whoopers, Willow Warbles and Tree Pipit, heard Cuckoo. Scoters still here along with Slav Grebe and watched HH nest building along with 3 SE Owls. On my way home managed to find a Tawny Owls nest with two eggs and a very fat dead Vole. It was on the ground of all places.
Saturday across to Iona, plenty of Sea birds and Twite but no sign of the Corncrake yet.
Sunday, at home as my wife was making me do jobs ,up on the Chalet roof pretending to work but luckily had a small pair of Bino’s in my pocket watched two big skeet's of Pink Footed geese head north as it is now too warm on Mull for them. Yellow Hammer singing in the tree as a Great Tit squeezed into a Blue tits nest box then singing his “ single male, own house looking for company for the summer” song. Early evening HH male hunting in the field above the antlerless stag, then glad to see the WTE sitting close to nest opposite.
