Firstly sorry its a little late just been busy , Wife must have read blog last week and came up with lots of “ important “ jobs that I had to do; Monday; Weather very poor, snowing, noticed that the” Racing Pigeon “ had left obviously the first bit of cold and his well toned body was of little use. All the female Rock Doves looked fed up while the males seemed to be happy.
Tuesday; After yesterdays weather I told myself to “cheer up things could be worse “ so I cheered up and things got worse. Other than fly passed by sparrow hawk little else to report. Wednesday; lets not go there.
Thursday; weather a lot better out on pm tour with sightings of WTE at nest site at Loc G&K, GE fighting with WT over nest site at Loc B, HH both M&F at Loc S. Whinchat and Whitethroat in gorse bushes. Otter, Sparrow hawk and Kestrel at Loc N and GE at nest site Loc T then at the end of the day WTE flow back into trees opposite home. Friday; Weather pleasant out on pm tour plenty of WT and G Eagles Kestrel Sparrow Hawk, HH and first one this year Osprey at normal site. Flock of Whimbrel and Hedgehog walking up garden. Saturday: Start of 4 day break with nice group of people and not so nice weather. Saw plenty on way back home then out at night on an Owl hunt. Watched SEO hunting with good views then went to the TO nest site only to find that it was destroyed with only a large piece of shell left. As we drove home rather deflated the weather started to rain putting the chance of seeing the Barn Owl,at nil.
Sunday: weather again wet so we all went north of the island, nice viwes of 3 and 1 Otters playing in the rain.
Large flock of Whimbrel, 11 Dunlin at Dervaig, new WTE nest site at Loc D with Eagle sat in the tree. Little Gredes on Mishniss Lochs then as we stopped to look at the first Common Terns of the year Ken was attacked by the same pheasant that saw off Fran in early April.
Still not seen the Cuckoo but hearing him often and going to look for the Corncrake tomorrow and better weather.
